"NO!" Fumiko backed away as the pokemon fell forward, the scyther’s blade still poking out of her jolteon's stomach. Blood slicked the needle-fine quillfur as guts struggled to stay on the inside.
Blood pooled on the ground under the Thunder pokemon.
"No... S-Stop it!" Her hands fumbled for the pokeball, but -
The blade was yanked out.
Fumiko froze, horrified eyes wide as guts spilled out. The red beam of the pokeball wouldn't recall it now. It was like her raticate all over again. "Raiu!"
"Come on, Fumiko-chan~." Fumiko felt her stomache drop at his words, and she shook her head. "You still have two left. Send out another and I'll make that worthless thing's death quick. Promise~."
Fumiko froze, mind locking up. He wanted to continue? "W-What?"
"You heard me. The pokemon's worthless. Don't tell me your scared of a little blood, woman. A battle's a battle."
Fumiko shook her head again, and Shigeru laughed. "Immortals! Don't tell me that thing was -- how weak are you?"
Fumiko flinched, then shakily sent out her charizard. As promised, Shigeru had the scyther slash the jolteon's throat. She tried not to think of the blood. It was a quick end to an otherwise painful death. "It was my prized battler."
It wasn't a lie.
She could and would break down later, there was no other choice. In the middle of a battle was neither the place nor the time. "Fire Blast."
She refused to look away as the bug-type was roasted alive by her Starter, gaze unfocused, distant.
It seemed to take forever, though at the temperatures Hinoa was breathing, it took only seconds until the thing was charcoal. Once it was done, she recalled her pokemon and walked away. She didn't even want the prize money for winning.
She walked until she hit Mt Moon and there under a tree, she broke down and cried for the loss of a friend.
